For my birthday ten of us went to the Lord Nelson at Hoylandswaine for lunch. It was a good opportunity to catch up with people between christmas and new year. Needless to say we didn't need any tea! Yesterday we went to see the Longleys in Leeds. As always it was a pleasure to see them and catch up. Matt is starting a collection of guitars and played all of them for us! We did get tickets for Star Wars in concert so i'll see him again in March 2010. 2010 where does the time go.
The train set is still number one even with all the new toys at christmas. Thomas has worked out how to use the lift which adds another dimension to it all.
Father Christmas left Thomas 4 presents on his bed and he absolutely loved opening them. They were all books which he loved and probably would have been happy with just those.
The snow has come again and covered the world white. This morning we all went for a walk through the park, Thomas seemed to enjoy the walk and loved dragging the sledge behind him. We met the neighbours during the walk there and back and when we all got back we built a huge snowman go our back garden. The snow seems to be thawing out now so it might not be here much longer. Shame!
The planned trip to Masham for me was cancelled due to the forecast. The others have gone. Tracy not nearly 100% and it wont have been right to leave her today. The snow is coming down nicely and has been for 30mins. Could be fun later or might have to try the autosock!
The wardrobe finally got fitted on thursday last week. Thomas was so excited about the whole thing. He showed 'the man' were it should go and really conversed with him about it. It was lovely so see. Thomas thinks the wardrobe is beautiful. His speech is really coming on but he does tend to talk too quickly which makes it hard to understand. He seems much more confident around unfamiliar people as well as well the man or collette (Cet).
Managed to clean the car at the weekend (albeit a drive thru with the aerial up ouch!) and then waterless wash it. The beading in the morning following the rain was spectacular. At least it has a bit of protection on now.
The heavy rain has again highlighted the problems we have with the drainage around our house. Again on Saturday and Sunday the water was pouring back up the drain by the study and around the side of the house as well as around the front door. Tried ringing the water but only got a voice mail for advice.
Last weekend the new wheels took a bit of a bashing. I kerbed them badly and was very annoyed to say the least. unfortunately the wheels are diamond cut again so not straight forward to get sorted. As you can see I did a good job!
Driving a tractor at Chatsworth. Today we all went to Chatsworth to see the christmas decorations and visit the farm. Thomas wasn't as struck by the lights and decorations as last year. We whizzed through the house in record time!
The stairs have been turned into a car park by Thomas as he finds new places to play in the house. Today he has spent ages playing on the stairs with a selection of his cars. Earlier today he had his 2nd haircut. He sat really well and seemed fine with the whole thing. Maybe the chocolate buttons helped!
Big boy pants. Thomas is enjoying wearing some mr men big boy pants before he takes his bath. He looks very grown up in them and so far he hasn't made a mess in them either.
Parked next to this at lunch yesterday and thought that it looked mighty fine. Am beginning to warm to these even the hatchbacks! I have always thought that the estates were well designed but now the hatchs are growing on me. This was a titanium diesel. Maybe needs slightly bigger wheels though!
Thomas did enjoy being pushed around by me and did work out where to put his feet to avoid the pedals. There was plenty of reversing and crashing which Thomas thoroughly enjoyed.
Thomas loves stickers at the moment. We have bought him some magazines about Bob and Thomas which have stickers and he loves putting them in the magazine or on the table!
We went to Toys R Us this morning to look at possible gifts for people. Thomas was in his element as you would expect! We had fun leaving because of the rain. It absolutely threw it down when we were leaving. I put Thomas under my top and got soaked myself. I was still very damp when we got home, Thomas was perfectly dry! We didn't anything either.
Thomas has lined all trains and cars up on the train set. Apparently they are going to go round and round and round! He is continuing to get a lot of enjoyment out of the set ( which is nice! ).
We all went to visit Karen and baby Emilia today. Thomas showed some interest and watched very carefully when Tracy was holding her. He touched her foot and shook a toy for her when she was on the carpet. The first time they met Thomas showed no interest at all. Karen and Paul seemed ok considering the lack of sleep and complete disruption to their normal life!
We turned Thomas' cot into a bed last night. When he saw it Thomas was so excited we thought he never go to bed. After a few minutes jumping, dancing and shouting we eventually put him to bed. First time he just stood by the door and cried! Second time he still cried for a minute or so then he climbed back into bed and went to sleep. Such a good boy! Unfortunately Thomas wake up at 5.30 this morning :-( He did in back to bed for an hour but he probably didn't sleep.
We had a bit of a shock today when Thomas climbed out of his cot instead of having an afternoon nap. By leaning over to the drawer unit he was able to swing his way out. He was obviously very proud of his achievement and take great delight in showing us again. His cot is now against the wall away from the drawers.
