Technology.....

Just had a bad day's training at Holgate CLC. Technical problems have met that we were waiting around all day for them to tell us whether we were using laptops, moving rooms, or just giving up. All the guys there have tried really hard to help me, but alas I have some POORS on my course evaluations!! Not good! It was a shame that the course attendees weren't more IT friendly then it would not have been such a big deal to them.

I am using the same venue next week for some 2Simple training, fingers crossed for that one.

Oh well, footie on telly tonight :-)

The First Kick

Saturday night watching 'Any Dream Will Do' was really special, and an event I shall never forget. It wasn't the programme that was any good, it was the first kicks, felt by the outside world of the young Master Rees. Yes I definitely felt him moving and exercising in there. It felt almost unreal, strange but so wonderful at the same time. I am not sure whether it was the music that stimulated him or the vast amount of chocolate his mother was consuming!! It doesn't really matter, it was just very special that he wanted to join us. Sharing the moment with Tracy made me feel very close to her and the little one. I just hope that his musical taste improvements, Andrew Lloyd Webber please!!! (Tracy has just called me into the bedroom.....little one is kicking again, 3 big ones so far in the last 10 mins as she is trying to get to sleep.....I have just been feeling the movement and kicks for myself, again very strange but very, very special) Hopefully we will both get a good night's sleep tonight - I know that Tracy needs one!!

20 week scan

Yesterday was the 20 week scan, another very memorable day. Tracy and I watched in amazement again as the nurse showed us the little one inside her. After a quick re-introduction the nurse sent time checking the baby over before asking us 'the question'. Yes we did want to know.....'your baby is a boy'. The nurse very enthusiastically showed us the poor boy's todger (from the underside) as proof! Smiles all round!! Thomas whispers Tracy (with BIG smile!!).
All the checks showed that the baby was growing and forming correctly, which is fantastic news. We now have to wait another 20 weeks (or so) until we will meet again. Thomas did manage a little wave though before we went. Can't wait to see him again!

Keane at Sheffield Arena

Went to see Keane at the Sheffield Arena last night, they were exceptional. Being only a 3 piece and with 2 of them playing stationery instruments, I thought they might lack a little live. I was wrong as the music, atmosphere and show came together to be a fantastic experience. The lighting, use of video cameras and screens made the whole show excellent. Highlights for me were Hamburg, Somewhere and This is the last time. Well worth catching live again.

12 week scan

The first glimpse of our new family member. They were obviously very excited to meet us as during the scan they were constantly moving and wriggling around. Watching them was a marvellous experience and one that I shall never forget.

An interesting point of view

Why wasn’t Pete Burns the subject of ‘national fury’?, asks Brendan O’Neill On last year’s Celebrity Big Brother, a white housemate slated a black housemate for the way she looks and talks - yet it didn’t even hit the front pages, much less cause an international storm. Pete Burns, the botoxed and lip-inflated transvestite who was a pop star in the 1980s, laid into Traci Bingham, the black American actress most famous for her slo-mo appearances in Baywatch. He was far more cruel than Jade Goody was to Shilpa Shetty. ‘You’ve got a short shelf-life. I know black don’t crack, but ultimately you get dusty hair’, Burns told Bingham, referring to black people’s skin texture and afro hair. ‘I can’t believe the absolute diarrhoea that’s dripping from your mouth’, he continued. ‘Your whole culture, everything you come from, everything you aspire to be is repugnant to me.’ He told Bingham she was ‘insincere to the point of nausea’ and ‘just fundamentally a fucking LA whore’. He called her a bitch, and when she protested he said: ‘I know the meaning of bitch, it was just black terminology, it’s fundamentally your language.’ He left the room and boasted to the other housemates, ‘I just attacked Traci for the hell of it’, while Bingham wiped away the tears. It makes Jade Goody’s use of the word ‘Poppadom’ look...well, like the idiotic outburst it was. Why didn’t Burns v Bingham cause a storm? Maybe because it didn’t fit today’s chav-bashing script. Burns is the tongue-in-cheek pop star whose ‘acidic wit’ went down well in certain liberal circles, while Bingham is a black American known for posing in a swimsuit - and who could feel sorry for a person like that? Jade, on the other hand, is coarse ‘white trash’ and Shilpa Shetty is respectable and refined, ‘just like us’. So Burns gets away with his spiteful rant while Jade is buried alive by politicians and the media for hers. It seems it’s not what she said that really matters, but where she comes from and what she represents
